Ideas for Garden Fencing

There are many different types of garden fencing to choose from these days, so you shouldn’t have much trouble finding a garden fence that suits the style of your home and garden, and fulfils the main objectives of getting a fence, such as privacy and security. Here we give you the low down on some of the different types of garden fences on the market today:

1 – Garden Screens

If your main reason for erecting a garden fence is for privacy then stockade fences, panels of wood or metal, bamboo and PVC can all be used as a garden screen to fence off the garden or improve the view. You can use wooden fencing or stockade fencing in unusual ways to add interest to your garden area by hanging plants, plaques, or ornaments along the fence.

2 – Post and Rail Garden Fencing

With a choice or wood or metal, this type of garden fencing is perhaps the most well known type of fencing around. Whether you go for the traditional white picket fence or you go for iron railings, there is a wide range or colours, materials and styles of posts and railings to make your garden fencing look great.

3 – Border Garden Fencing

Low border edging around a garden is now one of the most popular forms of garden fencing in the UK. The appeal here is that there are many different styles and materials available for border edging, such as cast iron, wire, various types of wood and even PVC. The edging is generally easy to install – just push it securely into the ground around the garden or flowerbed. This type of garden fencing offers an excellent way to finish off your landscaped garden.

4 – Vinyl Fencing

Vinyl fencing is quite a new, easy-to-care-for type of fencing. You can buy it in styles similar to wood panel and rail fencing, but vinyl fencing will not rot, fade or be harmed by the weather as wood fencing can be.

5 – Electronic Pet Containment Fencing

This is a popular type of garden fencing for those who have a pet, which they want to keep in their garden but don’t want any visible signs of a fence. The system is made up of a thin gauge wire, a transmitter and a collar. You can make the fence into any shape you want over an area of usually up to 25 acres. Then all you need to do is put the collar on your pet and when it gets close to the fence's perimeter, the animal will receive an audible warning signal through the collar.
